The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Thorough knowledge of Aquatics/Recreation programs and the ability to plan, oversee and administer these programs
- Ability to prepare reports, program budgets, demographic and statistics
- Ability to hire, train, schedule and supervise employees
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally orally and in writing, this will include staff and Board meetings, public speaking in the community, press releases, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of use of computers and basic software
- Thorough knowledge of cash control procedures and handling
- Thorough knowledge of state and county health codes for swimming pools
- General knowledge of aquatic maintenance and chemicals
- Skill interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, and supervision of staff with the ability to deal professionally with the public and the Board of Directors
- A strong customer service background
- A strong work ethic
Requirements for the position include a Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education leisure studies, communication or a related field with four years of progressive experience in aquatics or recreation that includes one year of supervision of staff. Possession of current or the ability to obtain by the start date the following certifications: Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training, CPR/First Aid Instructor and Aquatic Facility Operator. Spanish language skills are desirable.
